Masar – 15th Graduating – June 2025

30-06-2025

Twenty-seven years, and the dream still walks the paths of seeking and learning — a heart that does not rest, and a will that never tires. Fifteen graduating classes, and Masar still stubbornly holds to its method, its saying, and its path.

In the face of a hegemonic system, Masar and its graduates stood in a human encounter — free of all false glitz, filled with genuine emotion. They reclaimed joy and meaning, seeking the essence of things in a world that glorifies the superficial.

Blossoms opened quickly before us, as if time rushed their fragrance — but the scent of their presence lingered, as stubborn as they are, with the determination they carried and the liberatory, educational journey they wove, bearing the fruit of a gathering titled “A Farewell Hug and a Vow.”

The graduates opened the event with their motto and message to life — through a song they composed and performed, with lyrics written in collaboration with the poet and Arabic teacher at Masar, Ali Qadri.

In Masar’s message to them, the institution’s director, Ibrahim Abu Al-Heija, presented the book “La Médiocratie” (The Empire of Mediocrity) by Canadian philosopher Alain Deneault — placing in their hands a compass to guide them in critically reading an era ruled by mediocrity, where mediocrity itself has become the standard.

And from the heart of cultural memory, Dana Khoury — graduate of the second class, artist and teacher of cultural studies at Masar — presented a vibrant design rooted in our Arab heritage, inspired by the 13th-century book “Marvels of Creatures and the Strange Things Existing” by Zakariya al-Qazwini, affirming Masar’s belief that we are the children of a cumulative cultural heritage — a spring flowing across the ages.
