Masar Institute for Education is an NGO committed to social change and community development through innovative education.  Based in Nazareth, Masar has been in operation since 1996. 

 

Our core project is Masar School, the first alternative Arab school in Israel.  The school is the greenhouse for our new vision of education.  It is where we constantly apply and evaluate educational approaches. 

 

Masar School is not only important for the students and teachers working within its folds.  It serves as a model for marginalized communities in other locales. It is also a capacity-building enterprise that turns trainee educators into future trainers thus multiplying the community impact many folds.  Last but not least, the research generated from the educational approaches and practices at Masar School allows us to reposition our community to become an active exporter, rather than a passive consumer, of knowledge in the global dialogue on education.
